Psilocybe azurescens is a unique magic mushroom variety that not only packs a heavier dose of psilocybin than many other magic mushroom strains but is also highly desired by growers. Due to being extremely difficult to grow indoors, Psilocybe azurescens is best grown outside, particularly in wood chips or sandy soils. Out in nature, these mushrooms can be found along the West Coast of the USA, where they grow naturally in forest soil rich in decomposing organic matter and among dune grasses (particularly Ammophila maritima).

Producing beautiful brown caps that are naturally conic and/or convex (before flattening with age) and a fine, milky white stem, Psilocybe azurescens is a sight for sore eyes. When bruised, they tend to turn blue or deep indigo—something to note when identifying these mushrooms. With this liquid culture from Acid Shroomz, growing the highly sought-after Psilocybe azurescens has never been easier.

Note: When cultivating mushrooms outdoors, it is common for your patch to become contaminated with other mushrooms. Hence, correctly identifying Psilocybe azurescens is vital, especially since this species resembles a fatal mushroom variety known as "deadly Galerina". When identifying Psilocybe azurescens, pay close attention to the following.

• Spores: Azurescens produces deep purple/black spores, while Galerina spores are a rusty brown colour. Use spore prints to better identify your homegrown mushrooms.
• Bruising: Azurescens mushrooms turn blue when bruised or even when growing. Galerinas, on the other hand, do not.

For the best results when growing Psilocybe azurescens at home, we recommend preparing your patch right after the last frost in your region. This will allow your mycelium ample time to grow large and healthy. Watering with a garden hose may be necessary when temperatures rise. Psilocybe azurescens mycelium can be grown in grain but then should be transferred to well-hydrated, sterilised wood chips. If you cannot get hold of sterilised woodchips, hydrating wood chips with boiling water can also work. Just be sure to properly drain it and allow it to cool before inoculating with grain spawn.

Recommended Use

• Use within 2 months of delivery. Store your liquid culture in a cool, dark place such as the refrigerator and keep it protected from UV light. Use 2–5ml per litre/quart jar of sterilised grain.
• Shake well before use. This helps to loosen the mycelium, ensuring an even distribution when applying the liquid to different substrates/spawn containers.
• After use, the liquid culture should be stored in the refrigerator. Dry thoroughly before replacing the protective cover to prevent rust from forming on the needle.
• Additionally, you can heat the needle with a lighter to evaporate residual water, before allowing it to cool. Once cool, replace the protective cover, secure the liquid culture in a ziplock bag, and store it in the refrigerator.

Important Considerations

• While more liquid culture generally leads to faster colonisation, it's not recommended to exceed 5ml per litre/quart jar.
• For grain still moist after hydration/sterilisation, less LC per litre/quart jar is safer, as excess water can lead to bacterial growth.
• The more woodchip spawn that is used to create a patch, the more likely it is that the mycelium will settle in properly.
• This is a strong variety of magic mushrooms. When it comes to dosing, consider reducing the dose to half or a third of the dose you would take for a normal cubensis. It is always better to start low.
