Reishi mushroom has a long history of use. Known as lingzhi, meaning “spiritual potency”, ancient cultures revered this fungus for thousands of years in China and beyond. The age-old appreciation for this species is made apparent in ancient Taoist scripts and the first Chinese pharmacopoeia.

Reishi doesn’t have gills like the average mushroom. Instead, it features a spore surface covered with many tiny pores. The species grows on the side of rotting trees, where it accumulates an array of interesting phytochemicals, including polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) and triterpenes.
