PEPPERMINT
Peppermint is an ancient herb. Pliny (23-79AD) discussed the benefits of peppermint and recorded the Romans using it to flavour sauces and wines.
In your garden it will especially attract bees and repels ants, fleas, aphids and flea beetles. Mice will avoid gardens where mint is grown, but you must be careful of one thing.
Mint can be intrusive. It has root suckers and runners and will go crazy if given the chance. Break it apart at the rootball, pot on and give to friends and pick the leaves often. Used fresh in salads, plucked and chewed while you water the garden or dried and made into tea, peppermint benefits the digestion and is a fragrant balm on the air.
Able to bounce back from extreme weather conditions. It is a drought and drown tolerance specialist. If you are killing mint something is really wrong in your garden.
