Canarvalia maritima (Bay Bean): An Ancient Plant With Multiple Uses
Dry bay bean leaves are used throughout South America and along the coast of Mexico. The main active ingredient in bay bean is believed to be L-betonicine, an alkaloid with potential psychoactive properties. This is also why bay bean is used ceremonially in various cultures across the globe. Leaf meets rhizome with Galangal (Alpinia officinarum), a 50 gram cut that's traditionally brewed or cooked with.
