Bolivian Torch (Echinopsis lageniformis): Sacred Psychedelic Cactus from Bolivia
In its natural growing habitat in the hot and humid climate of Bolivia, the Bolivian Torch can at times reach a height of 4.5 meters. With our fresh seeds you can now grow this sacred cactus easily at home. Once sprouted, the cactus needs very little water and only then when the soil has dried out.
Growing the Bolivian Torch from seed to flower isn’t too difficult if you just keep an eye on some cactus growing basics. For an optimal germination rate you should keep the growing environment moist but well ventilated. With commonly available cactus potting and soil mixes which you can get at any gardening store you will get good results. There is also Bolivian Torch 'Monstrose', a live rooted cactus with a lumpy mutated growth pattern rather than a pack of seeds.
The Bolivian Torch will grow into a green, columnar cactus with fragrant white flowers. Another species in the genus worth a pot, Echinopsis macrogona (Trichocereus macrogonus), comes up bluish-green with grey areoles.
