Manual Peyote Seeds
Growing lophophora williamsii or any other cacti isn’t too difficult if you just get some basic essentials right. To make things easy right from the start and to help ensure maximum success with raising your own cacti and succulents from seed we also provide detailed and easy growing instructions. The same sowing basics apply to plenty of species in our wider exotic seed selection. Green Mormon Tea (Ephedra viridis) also comes as 20 seeds and enjoys the same dry, gritty mix, but it is a jointed desert shrub rather than a cactus.
Lophophora williamsii (Peyote) is a native of Mexico and the Southern US which means it loves very dry and sun-drenched growing conditions. Peyote grows best in very mineral soil. A mix of 50% sand, 25% grit or bims and 25% regular potting soil has proven to the best growing medium for these types of special cacti.
When you grow Peyote, ensure a minimum temperature of 10ºC and plenty of direct sunlight and your Peyote cacti will be thriving. Peyote will grow to a pale green cactus with a globular shape with pink/white flowers. Fans of slow cacti will find more to start in our psychoactive plant seed range. If you would rather watch a cactus climb than stay low and globular, San Pedro (Echinopsis pachanoi) puts on columnar growth much faster.
