CALAMUS DOSAGE
A pack of calamus contains 80 grams of powder. For a clear, uplifting effect: mix 1 tablespoon in a cup of hot water and drink this on an empty stomach. Strain and drink a couple of cups. For a mind-expanding effect: raise the dosage as required.
CALAMUS ACTIVE COMPOUNDS
Calamus root contains high levels of essential oil with decadienal, caryophyllene, humulene, curcumene and beta-asarone – this latter being the primary inebriating component. Additional active chemicals found in the essential oil are methyl isoeugenol and cyclohexanone.
Calamus arrives as powder rather than leaf or bark, so it stirs in instead of steeping like most of our loose herbs.
