Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis): A Mediterranean Herb With 2,000 Years of History
Lemon Balm belongs to the Lamiaceae family, the same family as mint, and is native to south-central Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, and Iran. The plant has been in documented use for over 2,000 years, valued by the ancient Greeks and later woven into European herbal tradition as a key ingredient in Carmelite Water and Klosterfrau Melissengeist, both of which are still sold in German pharmacies today. This 20g pack contains dried leaves, the part of the plant most associated with its characteristic fragrance and traditional use.
The leaves are light green and slightly wrinkled, growing on square stems typical of the mint family. Unlike many herbs whose aroma is fixed, lemon balm's scent is most vivid when the leaves are handled and fades as the plant flowers, making the dried leaf form a practical way to preserve that freshness.
Preparing Lemon Balm as an Infusion
The most common preparation is a simple loose-leaf infusion. Add the dried leaves to hot water and allow them to steep. The resulting infusion carries the herb's signature lemon-forward aroma, lighter and greener than lemon verbena, which is the closest comparison most people reach for. No added flavouring, no blending required. The 20g pack gives a reasonable supply for regular use without committing to a large quantity before you know how often you'll reach for it.

Set your device to 140 C for this one; the full vape herbs selection lists a figure for each. Lavender runs cooler still at 130 C, while Chamomile needs a much hotter 190 C despite tasting gentler. Lemon balm brings the citrus note to our calming herb range. For a savoury counterpart rather than citrus, there is Thyme 20g.
