Thyme (Thymus vulgaris): aromatic leaves from southern Europe
Thyme is a low-growing perennial herb in the Lamiaceae family, native to southern Europe and cultivated across Eastern and Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and the United States. The dried leaves carry a warm, savoury scent that is immediately recognisable, intense enough that the herb identifies itself before you've even opened the bag. Thymus vulgaris has a long history of traditional use across cultures, and its place on the ethnobotanical shelf is as natural as its place in the kitchen. This pack contains 20g of shredded dried leaves.
Twenty grams of shredded dried leaves, warm and savoury, and one of two culinary herbs on a shelf otherwise made of tablets. How to use Thyme
The shredded form is more immediately practical than whole dried sprigs. It integrates cleanly into both liquid and solid preparations without the need to strip or chop. In cooking, add it early in the process, stews, roasted dishes, and Mediterranean-style recipes all suit it well. The flavour holds up well when dried, staying warm and savoury rather than fading to dust the way lesser dried herbs can. For an infusion, steep the shredded leaves in hot water and brew to your preferred strength. Thyme also works in homemade cosmetic preparations such as soaps and balms, where the aroma carries through well.
